At Du Toitskloof Wines we
have always aimed to produce exceptional wines at affordable prices taking
great care not to compromise on quality despite to the substantial volumes
produced of each wine. The cellar has been built on the premise that quality
wines need not cost the earth, and consistent quality and freshness have always
been top priorities. Over the past few years Du Toitskloof has invested quite
considerably in new cellar equipment to ensure its production, fermentation and
cooling systems serve the winemaking team in achieving this ideal.
The stony soils of the area are ideally suited to grape growing and in summer the vineyards are shaded from early on by the high peaks of the Du Toitskloof Mountains, ensuring slow ripening and intensity of flavour. Member farms lie within a 10 km radius of the cellar so they all share similar soil types and micro-climates.
Du Toitskloof Wines has on five occasions been named the cellar that offers overall the best value, a distinction no other winery in South Africa can match. Its 2012 Du Toitskloof Sauvignon Blanc was named one of the 2012 FNB Sauvignon Blanc Top 10 wines. It was chosen from 95 entries from a range of Sauvignon blanc-producing areas such as Darling, Stellenbosch, Elgin and Durbanville - a remarkable achievement if one considers that some of these wines cost three times more than Du Toitskloof’s Sauvignon Blanc and are produced in much smaller volumes.
